Smoke and Roses is named after the owners occupations. Captain Dan Long retired after 28 years as Captain on the South Dakota Fire Department, he was a firefighter and EMT. His wife Agnes, the Chef and First Mate is former owner of Moonlight Rose LLC, a floral business she started, and former owner of Diamond Dynasty Limousine Service. After several years of being landlocked, boating and water activities were a natural for Dan as he grew up on a lake in Wisconsin. Shortly after they met, Dan and Agnes took up diving together, then sailing and have spent every free moment since, pursuing their goal of life on the water. Dan and Agnes are United States Coast Guard licensed Captains. Their ASA Sailing Certifications include Basic Keelboat Sailing, Basic Coastal Cruising, Bareboat Chartering and Catamaran Sailing. Dan is a PADI Dive Master and Agnes is an Advanced Open Water Diver.Having many years experience in service industries combined with their love of people and all the Islands have to offer make them the perfect hosts. From exploring secluded bays and uninhabited islands, to enjoying lively anchorages with beach barbeques and all the best dive sites, Dan and Agnes will safely get you there.
