COME ALONG WITH US for a relaxing get away!
Here is a sample itinerary. Your trips itinerary is completely up to you!
We can tailor your trip to include more nightlife, exclusively diving or more shopping, sightseeing and recreation. Excursions to the United States Virgin Islands, including Saint Thomas, Saint John and Saint Croix can also be added to your vacation.
Day 1 Beef Island
No need to worry about finding a cab. We will greet you at the airport and assist with your luggage for a short two minute stroll to beautiful Trellis Bay, where your luxury yacht awaits. Here you settle into your private cabin and gradually adjust to Island Time by relaxing with a tropical beverage.
Day 2 Jost Van Dyke named after a Dutch pirate.
You’ll be waking up to sunshine and clear blue skies inviting you on deck for breakfast while your skipper is readying the boat. We sail west along the Northern coast of Tortola towards Jost Van Dyke where pods of dolphins frolic in the bow wake. A brief stop at Sandy Cay, an uninhabited island, offers a hike through a botanical wonderland and pristine beaches. We anchor in Great Harbor for the night and later dinghy ashore for drinks at Corsairs and dinner at Foxy’s famous BBQ, followed by music, dancing and a stroll down the main street beach.
Day 3 Norman Island referred to as “Treasure Island” for its link to legends of pirates and buried riches.
There is no better way to relax while sailing then laying on the trampoline with a good book, or just soaking in the sunshine.
On the way to The Bight in Norman Island, we make a stop at Sopers Hole Wharf; the home of Pusser’s Landing, for some shopping and to replenish provisions. We’ll spend the night in The Bight, on a mooring ball. The Caves and the Indians are just a short dinghy ride for snorkeling and scuba diving along the coral reef filled with marine life and pelagic's. Later some of us stop at the “Willie T” (the William Thornton), a converted lumber schooner which is now a fun floating restaurant and bar with quirky traditions; while others go ashore for hiking and to the beachside bar for drinks.
Day 4 Salt and Cooper Islands
A short beat up the Sir Francis Drake Channel takes us to Salt Island. Here we dive and snorkel the wreck of the Royal Mail Steamship Rhone, a relic of the hurricane of 1867. Others, alternatively, go ashore and visit the settlement and the salt pond from which the island takes its name. After lunch on board, we sail to Cooper Island and pick up a mooring in Manchioneel Bay in front of the Beach Club bar and restaurant, ashore we visit a boutique and dive shop. A short dinghy ride to Cistern Point offers excellent snorkeling or diving with multi-colored fish of all shapes and sizes.
Day 5 Virgin Gorda the “Fat Virgin” as Columbus irreverently called this island.
We head for Virgin Gorda stopping to explore The Baths, one of the most unique natural rock formations that have a myriad of secret pools and caves. Walking through the thousands of boulders there are many gaps that open into massive rocky grottos filled with seawater. We can take the path to the top where we enjoy the spectacular views, do some shopping and get the islands best pina colada at Mad Dogs. Sailing north and east we will find our next anchorage. Leverick Bay in North Sound is a great recreational center with gift shops, salon, pool, beach, a full service Marina and Dive shop. Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar offers a great view of North Sound and the surrounding island.
Day 6 Anegada known as “The Drowned Island” as its highest point is 28 feet above sea level.
On to Anegada, our longest sail of 12 miles, takes us to this low-lying island that is a wildlife sanctuary and refuge for colonies of flamingos, herons and ospreys. We take a taxi ride to Loblolly Bay and walk the glorious beaches, with fine white sand, from east to west. While some snorkel the warm, clear waters inside the reef, others find a hammock on the beach for the afternoon. Then it’s back to the anchorage for a smoothie at a beachside bar while watching the sunset. Dinner ashore includes lobster or a seafood platter at Potters By the Sea.
Day 7 The Dogs and back to Beef Island
Weigh anchor and we are sailing toward Beef Island, with a stop at the Dogs to dive, snorkel and have lunch on board. By now you are quite comfortable taking the helm, raising the sails, picking up a mooring and trimming the sheets as you have had a week of hands on sailing experience, if you have chosen to do so. Back in Trellis Bay on Beef Island – a well protected natural harbor – you start gathering your things and reminiscing about what an awesome adventure the week of island hoping aboard Smoke and Roses has been. Ashore you pick up some souvenirs handcrafted by local artists, visit a cyber cafe and take a last stroll down the beach.
